OBITUARY: Edna Loudene Bruce
Edna Loudene Bruce, 90, of Harrisburg, passed away at 6:52 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, 2014, at Harrisburg Medical Center.
Edna was born on Sept. 23, 1923, in Carrier Mills to the late Henry and Myrtle (Wilkins) Dallas. On June 20, 1948, she married Thomas Claud Bruce and he preceded her in death on Dec. 31, 2011. Edna was a member of the Parkview Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Fla.
Surviving family members include one sister, Lou Ann (Jack) Yates of Harrisburg; brother, W.C. (Violet) Dallas of Mt. Carmel; sister-in-law, Betty Dallas of Sullivan, Ind.; special nieces and caretakers, Connie and Larry Angelly of Harrisburg, Sally and Don Basinger of Eldorado and Bonnie and Tommy Blue of Louisville, Ky.; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters, Helen Capel and Nellie Malone; and brothers, Loren Dallas, Clyde Dallas, Dayton Dallas and Harold Dallas.
Funeral services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 22, 2014, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. The Rev. Scott Johnson will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 22, 2014, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Harrisburg Medical Center Foundation. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, 2014, at Jacksonville National Cemetery in Jacksonville, Fla. Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home in Jacksonville is in charge of local arrangements.
