OBITUARY: Helen Marie Wallace Hale

Helen Marie Wallace Hale, 96 of Harrisburg, passed away at 2:45 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, 2014, at the Carrier Mills Nursing Home.

Helen was born on Nov. 11, 1917, in Harrisburg to the late Courtland B. and Nellie (Hancock) Wallace. She first married Charles Hogg and later married Elbert Hale. Helen retired from McDonnell Douglas, which is now Boeing Aircraft in 1975 after 38 years of service. She has been a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Harrisburg for many years. She was an excellent seamstress, cook and gardener and she also liked a good fishing trip.

Surviving family members include: several nieces and nephews in the surrounding area.

She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; and five brothers, Courtland Brownlow, Bernie Kenneth, Astor Jonathan, Donald G. and Troy Wallace.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2014, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. The Rev. Joe Poirot and the Rev. Loy Barger will officiate. Burial will follow in Sunset Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2014, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Carrier Mills Nursing Home. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
