Shawnee Hills Antique Mall open for business
In her fourth week of operations, Debbie Nugent, owner of Shawnee Hills Antique Mall in Harrisburg, said business is good.
"The customers are coming in," Nugent said at the grand opening of her store on Thursday.
With a variety of antiques, clothes, purses, soaps, and more from 14 vendors in a clean, open space, customers have reason to come back to check out continually changing booths.
Nugent has been selling antiques online for two or three years, and decided to take the opportunity to open a brick-and-mortar store when the space at 34 Veterans Drive, Suite D in Harrisburg.
"This spot became available, and I just felt like it was something Harrisburg needed," Nugent said. Hers is the only antique mall in the city, but will also serve surrounding communities, she said.
The vendors are Nugent's key to success, she said.
"If it weren't for them, this wouldn't be possible," Nugent said.
Vendors said they have already seen increasing business since the store opened on May 23.
Trina Shaw, of Poordo, whose booth contains primitives and other household items, said, "We've been really busy, and we're seeing a different clientele. They're definitely coming."
Shawnee Hills Antique Mall is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. It is located at 34 Veterans Drive, Suite D in Harrisburg. For more information, call the mall at (618) 252-2793.
