Sparta man ticketed for DUI after Saturday crash

<p dir="ltr"><span>A 22-year-old Sparta man was ticketed for driving under the influence, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and no seatbelt after a single-vehicle accident early Saturday morning.</span>

<p dir="ltr"><span>According to the Randolph County Sheriff&rsquo;s Office crash report, Jonathan G. Hill was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado north on Zion Church Road and exited northeast onto an unnamed access road.</span>

<p dir="ltr"><span>The Silverado then traveled 222 feet east before running off the road on the left-hand side. The vehicle continued an additional 125 feet before striking a ditch and began to overturn.</span>

<p dir="ltr"><span>The Silverado was stated to travel 119 more feet before striking a tree and coming to rest facing south/southeast.</span>

<p dir="ltr"><span>Hill and his passenger, 20-year-old Katie Hill, also of Sparta, were both ejected in the crash. Jonathan Hill was taken to Sparta Community Hospital, while Katie Hill was transported to St. Louis University Hospital.</span>

<p dir="ltr"><span>Jason Merrill, public relations relations manager with SLU, told the newspaper on Monday that Katie Hill was treated and released. The condition of Jonathan Hill was not immediately known.</span>

<p dir="ltr"><span>The accident was reported at 2:40 a.m.</span>
