Eldorado boy injured in scooter crash

ELDORADO - A 9-year-old Eldorado boy suffered injuries and was airlifted to a hospital after he apparently rode his scooter into the path of a car, according to an Illinois State Police District 19 news release.

At about 6:48 p.m. on Thursday, June 18, the boy was riding a small children's scooter westbound on a bike path toward Fourth Street near North Railroad Street.

According to an accident report, the boy continued riding onto Fourth Street and did not yield the right of way at a posted stop sign.

Kyle B. Myers, 31, of Eldorado was driving his blue 2016 Nissan Rogue southbound on Fourth Street when the boy on the scooter struck Myers' car.

Two witnesses reported they observed the boy enter the roadway and strike the rear passenger side of Myers' car.

The boy was taken by air ambulance to an area hospital with non life-threatening injuries. Myers refused medical attention.
