The growing place FFA plant sale Saturday gives students chance to show off the high school's new greenhouse

HARRISBURG - Plant and garden lovers will have the opportunity to support local FFA members while getting a look at Harrisburg High School's new greenhouse when FFA has its spring plant sale Saturday.

"The greenhouse actually was completed in the fall of 2019, but because of the COVID-19 shutdown, we held our spring plant sale online," FFA adviser Cacy Ellis said. "Now that we can have it in person, customers will get to check it out."

And, those customers probably will find the selection to their liking. The greenhouse is filled with robust annual flowers, hanging fern baskets and an assortment of garden vegetables.

"Everything is reasonably priced," Ellis said. "Prices start at $3 and up, and our fern baskets are $10 each."

The plant sale is 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Harrisburg High School greenhouse on the south side of the building. Though it is likely to sell out, Ellis said any remaining plants will be offered for sale at the same time the following Saturday.
