Prep Soccer: Harrisburg plays Mt. Carmel to 3-3 tie

Harrisburg played Mt. Carmel to a 3-3 tie Saturday on the road.

Talon Thurston had two goals on the day for the Bulldogs, while Adrian Mann's kick into the back of the net with 5:00 remaining tied the game up that resulted in a draw.

Harrisburg was without three starters - all seniors - on the day as Cameron Johnson, Luke Dunstan and Dylan Shackleford were away from the pitch, but after playing to a scoreless first half, both teams exchanged goals in the second half.

Mt. Carmel got on the board first and Thurston netted one past the keeper eight minutes later. The Aces then took a 2-1 lead before Thurston would score his second goal of the game in the 72nd minute.

Mt. Carmel would find the back of the net one last time in the 67th minute, before Mann tied the game at 3-all.

"I couldn't be more proud of our boys (Saturday)," Harrisburg head coach Jason Butler said. "They ran their butts off for 60 minutes and never threw in the towel.

Butler noted that Josh Stewart, a sophomore, stepped up and played his best game of the season.

Harrisburg was scheduled to travel to Pinckneyville today (Tuesday) and will play host to Carterville on Thursday.

"We're asking the student body to come out and support a talented Bulldog soccer team," Butler said of Thursday's game, where admission is free.
