Lindell Dewayne Johnson of Harrisburg
Lindell Dewayne Johnson, 65, a resident of Harrisburg, passed away at 5:45 p.m. Monday, Sept. 2, 2024, at his home.
Lindell was born Nov. 2, 1958, at Hardin County General Hospital in Rosiclare. He was the son of Dee A. and Wanda M. (Shoemaker) Johnson.
On May 12, 1989, Lindell was united in marriage to Vickie Lynn Ewan at the Simpson Baptist Church. She survives.
In addition to his wife, Lindell is survived by children Stephanie (Carroll) Treat of Creal Springs, Kristie (Jamey) Clarida of Galatia, Stephen (Bryan Ferrell) Sloan of Marion and Tyler (Hannah) Johnson of Equality; grandchildren Kayli, Isabelle and Ian Clarida, Gavin Sloan, and Sianna and Sophia Johnson; sisters Connie Schram of Chester, and Lois (Bob) Painter of Simpson; brothers Charles “Chuck” (Shanna) Johnson of Simpson, Terry Johnson of Chester and Jeremy (Heather) Johnson of Anna; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends. Lindell was anticipating the birth of a grandchild due in April 2025.
Lindell was preceded in death by his parents.
Lindell was a 1976 graduate of Vienna High School. He was employed for 32 years at the Vienna Correctional Center, where he retired in 2011 with the rank of Correctional Supply Supervisor III. During his employment at V.C.C., Lindell was a member of the A.F.S.C.M.E. (American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees) Local 415. He had served as chief steward as well as president of the local. He was also an active participant of the Harrisburg chapter of the A.F.S.C.M.E. retirees.
Lindell enjoyed farming, raising cattle and horseback riding. In his younger years, he was an avid hunter.
Lindell was of the Baptist faith.
A funeral service honoring the life of Lindell Johnson was conducted Friday, Sept. 6 at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Pastor Ownly Williams officiated. Burial was at Kerley Cemetery in the Flatwoods community in Johnson County.
Visitation was held Sept. 6 at the funeral home.
