Larry Dean Lambert of Golconda

Larry Dean Lambert, 79, of Golconda passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2024, at Metropolis Rehab and Healthcare facility.

Larry was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many. Known for his kindness, dedication and genuine love for life, Larry left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Early in life, Larry's love for sports became evident. He was an exceptional baseball player in high school, and after graduating, he discovered a passion for golf. As with many things in his life, Larry pursued the game of golf with dedication, mastering the golf swing and sharing his knowledge with family and friends.

Following high school, Larry joined the family plumbing and heating business, learning the trade from his father. He went on to have a long and successful career, culminating with his work as a plumber at the Vienna Correctional Facility, where he formed lifelong friendships that lasted well into his retirement.

A true renaissance man, Larry embraced every craft or hobby with passion and precision. His love for the outdoors was central to his life — he was an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener who thrived on self-sufficiency. After retiring, Larry undertook one of his greatest projects, designing and building a log home with lumber he milled from his own property. His craftsmanship and attention to detail were reflected in everything he did.

Larry also had a deep love for animals, especially his coon hounds and dachshunds, which were his constant companions over the years.

His legacy lives on through his family and the many people he mentored and befriended throughout his life. Larry’s strength of character, love for the outdoors and unwavering support for those he loved will always be remembered.

He is survived by his wife, Susan Blakeley Lambert of Golconda; his sons, Shannon (Tammy) Lambert of Franklin, Tenn., and Ryan (Michelle) Lambert of Harrisburg; his brother, Jimmie Dale (Joanne) Lambert of Harrisburg; his sister, Patty Lambert of Harrisburg his stepdaughter, Kelly (Don) Kerns of Harrisburg; his grandchildren, Lindsey Lambert, Dylan Harris, Lauren Lambert, Dalton (Haley) Lambert, Natalie Lambert, Samuel Lambert and Dustin Kerns; and his great-grandchildren, Aaliyah, Liam, Annika and Deklan.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, James and Ludean Lambert, and his brother, Wendell Lambert.

Larry’s warmth, wisdom, and passion for life will be missed by all who knew him.

You are invited to gather with family and friends for a celebration of life from 2 to 4 p.m. Oct. 19 at Morello’s in Harrisburg.
