Prep Baseball: Harrisburg falters late, falls to Carbondale
Carbondale's Corey Crombar singled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs in the bottom of the seventh, lifting the Terries to a 7-5 win over Harrisburg Friday afternoon.
Carbondale, who trailed 5-3 going into the top of the frame, answered with four runs for the win.
Noah Arnold took the loss as he worked 1.2 inning and allowed four runs on five hits, while striking out two and walking one.
Drew Hawkins got the start on the bump for the Bulldogs, going five innings and allowing three runs (two earned) on three hits, striking out five and walking two.
Ross Rider relieved Hawkins, walking one over 0.1 of an inning, giving way to Arnold.
Harrisburg had seven hits on the day as Cameron Ande led the charge, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and a team-high two runs scored.
Jackson Pittman, Ethan Golish, Bryant Lester, Riley King and Brendan Bergan all had one hit with Lester joining Ande with a two RBI day.
Pittman, Golish and Grant Wilson all scored one run.
Ty Doan got the win for Carbondale, going the distance and allowing five runs (four earned) on seven hits with four strikeouts and four walks.
Matthew Nadoiski, Colby Boudet and Brock Bowlby all had multiple hit days for the Terriers as Nadolski drove in two runs and Boudet scored two runs.
Harrisburg was scheduled to travel to Fairfield Monday and will host Carterville Thursday. The Bulldogs close out the week at Pinckneyville Friday and at home against Mt. Vernon Saturday at 11 a.m.
