Local groups donate to Veterans Honor Flight of Southern Illinois
MARION - The Veterans Honor Flight of Southern Illinois accepted two substantial donations for its program on Friday during a short ceremony at the Veterans Airport near Marion.
The Marion Professional Firefighters presented the group with a check for $3,000, while J & L Custom Automotive and The Italian Club donated $2,400.
"While we did not get to fly in 2020, we are planning to fly in the Spring of 2021, as soon as it is safe to do so," said board secretary Evan Youngblood.
Youngblood also noted that everyone at the ceremony was wearing Veterans Honor Flight face masks.
"These masks are now available for sale on our website," said Youngblood, noting that each sale directly benefits the Veterans Honor Flight of Southern Illinois.
