Harvey E. Sickler
Harvey E. Sickler, 60, of Du Quoin, passed away at 11:50 a.m., Monday, Oct. 7, 2013 at the Helia Healthcare in Carbondale.
Harvey had been a farmer with his parents on the family farm. He had also worked at the Southern Illinoisan in the packaging department for several years and was a greeter at Wal-Mart for several years. He was a member of the Dowell Baptist Church. He enjoyed sitting outside watching the cars and people go by. He liked watching the old rerun TV shows and reading. Harvey enjoyed the outdoors and going for truck and car rides.
Harvey was born Oct. 6, 1953 at Du Quoin, Ill., the son of Harold E. and Margaret (Parrish) Sickler.
He is survived by two sisters- Doris Scaggs of Du Quoin and Barbara Tuthill and husband Brian of Elkville, one brother- Charles Sickler and wife Linda of Guyton, Ga., three nephews, three nieces, three great nephews and three great nieces and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister- Peggy Boozer and a great niece.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, Oct. 11, 2013 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Jim Boozer officiating.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Burial will be in the Murdale Gardens of Memory at Murphysboro, Ill.
Friends may make memorials to the Kidney Foundation and will be accepted at the funeral home.
