Anna Chlumsky Welcomes Daughter Penelope Joan

It's been a big week for Anna Chlumsky.

A week before earning her first Emmy nomination for Veep, Chlumsky welcomed daughter Penelope Joan, People reports.

"She's a really good mix between my husband [Shaun So] and me," Chlumsky says of Penelope, born July 11. "When she's with him, you see him, and when she's with me, you see me. She's a perfect mix. ... [Motherhood is] seriously the best thing. Holding her is fantastic. It's one of the more enjoyable things. It doesn't get boring at all. I could hold her all day."

In fact, Chlumsky was holding Penelope when she got the good news about her Emmy nomination for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy on Thursday. "I'm still in shock," the My Girl star says. "When I got the call, I wasn't sleeping because I was breast-feeding my daughter. It was neat because it was me and my husband and my daughter all in the room getting the news at the same time. When [my manager] told me, it was that nervous, happy, appreciative laughter. I just laughed a lot! It feels really great to have your work noticed."

Penelope is the first child for Chlumsky and So, who have been married for five years.
