OBITUARY: Anna Lavern Cheshier

Anna Lavern Cheshier, 78, McLeansboro, died 6:05 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, 2014, in McLeansboro.

Funeral services are 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 14, 2014, at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro with the Rev. Robert Sefried officiating. Visitation is 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in McLeansboro.

She was born Nov. 15, 1935, in McLeansboro, to William and Minnie (Holland) Bowers. She married Johnny Cheshier March 6, 1953, in Kansas. He preceded her in death March 17, 1981. She was a homemaker and attended Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church. She loved being around her grandkids.

She is survived by three daughters, Donna Hetterscheidt and husband, Jack, of Harrisburg, Helen Smith of Carrolton, Texas, and Carolyn Roddy of Chandler, Texas; two sisters, Faye Hook of Hutchison, Kansas, and Fern Hook of Kansas; seven grandchildren, Jackie, Shelly, Melody, Michelle, Jamie, Joni and John; 14 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Johnny Lee; two granddaughters, Dina and Sherry Lynn; one great-grandson, Michael; five brothers, Charles, Briss, James, Archie Lee and Joe.
