OBITUARY: Verbal Sheldon

Verbal Sheldon, 96 of Harrisburg, passed away at 10 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, 2014, at Harrisburg Medical Center.

Verbal was born on Nov. 28, 1917, in Hamilton County, to the late James and Margie (Essray) Estes. On Aug. 13, 1938, she married George Sheldon and he preceded her in death on Nov. 9, 1999. Verbal was a homemaker and member of Bankston Fork Baptist Church.

Surviving family members include her son: Donald R. (Mary Ellen) Sheldon of Harrisburg; daughter: Mary Joyce Sheldon of Harrisburg; daughter: Georgia Mae (Ronald) Klemm of Golconda; son: Bill (Anne) Sheldon of Newburgh, Ind.; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a daughter, Shirley Ann Sheldon.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 15, 2014, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. The Rev. David Smith will officiate. Burial will follow in Sunset Lawn Cemetery. Visitation was from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 14, 2014, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bankston Fork Baptist Church in Harrisburg. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
