Velma Jean Vogel Austin

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Velma Jean Vogel Austin, 82, of Harrisburg, passed away at 3:45 p.m. Sunday, July 6, 2008, at Harrisburg Medical Center.

She was born on Jan. 28, 1926, in Eldorado to the late Leonard and Anna Violet (Maloney) Carr. She married Wayne Jones and he preceded her in death; she later married Paul Vogel and he preceded her in death; she then married Coleman Austin, who survives.

Surviving family members include her husband, Coleman Austin of Harrisburg; three sons, Larry W. Jones of Harrisburg Donald Gene Jones of Springfield and Paul F. (Dianne) Vogel of Herod; two daughters, Jean Ellen Evrard of Harrisburg and Diana Lynn (Steven) Gobelman of Springfield; two sisters, Christine Pfiefer of Waukegan and Jerri Davis of Charleston; 13 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and two of her husbands, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Ronald Carr; and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, 2008, at Reed Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Judy Beyler will officiate. Burial will follow in Poplar Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2008, at Reed Funeral Chapel.
