Obituary: Vernon Hogg
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Vernon Hogg, 78, died peacefully at his home in rural Eddyville, at 4:10 p.m. on Oct. 26, 2011, with his family at his side.
He was married to his true love, Evelyn Fulkerson, on Oct. 18, 1952. They were married 59 years and eight days. Vernon was born Sept. 18, 1933, to Freeman and Audie (Hicks) Hogg at Sodom, Pope County.
Vernon is survived by his wife and four children, Vicki Vaughn (Terry), Steve Hogg (Debra), Kathy Fisher (Micky) and Lysa Wise (Randall); five grandchildren, Danny Vaughn (Jami), Jeremy Hogg (April), Krysta (fiancé Seth Graves), Katie and Kyle Wise; five great-grandchildren, Brooklyn and Victoria Vaughn, Rylee, Shelby and Cyrus Hogg; one sister, Gladys Payne; one half-brother, David Hogg; two sisters-in-law, Joyce Hogg and Wanda Hogg, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and Irvin; a half-brother Lindall; and two half-sisters, Lula Friday and Kathryn Conger.
Vernon was a carpenter for over 40 years where he proudly built many homes, his last project being San Damiano. Since his retirement, Vernon kept busy enjoying early morning coffee with friends, tinkering in the barn, and refinishing antique automobiles. His expertise in carpentry, mechanics and other areas were often called upon by friends and family throughout his life. He was always willing to help.
Family was very important to Vernon. Time spent together camping, motorcycling, fishing, farming, and traveling created many happy memories for all.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011, at Eddyville Baptist Church. Pastor Bud Sork will officiate with reading of the obituary by Seth Graves. Burial will follow in the Hogg cemetery near Herod. Visitation will be held at the Aly Funeral Home in Eddyville from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 28.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Hogg Cemetery Fund or M.A.S.H. 62938. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
