Rev. Vola Logan Sittig

Rev. Vola Logan Sittig, 98, of Harrisburg, passed away at 4:57 PM, Friday, April 8, 2016, 2016 at Harrisburg Medical Center.

Vola was born on February 12, 1918 in Stonefort, Illinois to the late Vola Virgil and Kate Miranda (Edwards) Sittig. On July 4, 1942 he married Laverne Roberts and she survives. Vola pastored several churches over the years, including Union Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Galatia, Gilead Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Simpson and Galatia Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He preached for over 50 years. He also previously worked at Pankey's Bakery and Food Land. He enjoyed collecting model trains. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Eldorado and a WW II Army Veteran.

Surviving family members include his wife: Laverne Sittig of Eldorado; son: Gene Sittig and wife Buenita of Raleigh; son: Les Sittig and wife La Nell of Mitchellsville; three grandchildren: Drew Sittig and wife Jayme of Lynchburg, VA, LaNette Proctor and husband Jim of Mitchellsville and Lance Sittig and wife Andria of Harrisburg; seven great-grandchildren: Nathan and Noah Sittig of Brentwood, TN, Haley Culkin and husband Brandon of Mitchellsville, Garrett Proctor and Hannah Proctor of Mitchellsville, Brendan and Novelyn Sittig of Harrisburg; two great-great-grandchildren: Ellie May and Eva Leslie Culkin of Mitchellsville; sister: Vivian Mullin of Winedot, MI; granddaughter-in-law: Mandi Sittig of Brentwood, TN.

Vola was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Darryl E. Sittig and a sister, Helen Williams.

Funeral services for Rev. Vola Logan Sittig will be at 11 AM, Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. Ed Nenonen will officiate. Burial will follow in Lindale Cemetery in Eldorado. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM, Monday, April 11, 2016 at Reed Funeral Chapel Harrisburg.
