"With this levy I'm rather certain we're the only district in the radius not taxing at the maximum in education," Superintendent Gary Siebert said.
He said his and the board's philosophy has been to tax enough to run the schools and be considerate to taxpayers.
The levy total is $1,786,000. Of that $1,100,000 is for the education fund, $235,000 for operations and maintenance, $90,000 for transportation, $23,000 for working cash, $133,000 for municipal retirement, $135,000 for social security, $50,000 for tort immunity and $20,000 for special education.
Siebert said it is possible the levy next year may be higher, even 5 percent or more which requires a hearing if funding from the state lags greatly behind this year.
