Preps: Taylor Field undergoing renovations

When Harrisburg takes the field for football this upcoming fall, the ground beneath their feet will be a little bit softer.

This week, construction started on installing a new turf field and track at Taylor Field, by ATG Sports Industries out of Festus, Missouri.

"I think many are looking forward to the upgrades," Harrisburg athletic director Greg Langley said. "This is an exciting time for Harrisburg athletics."

Langley noted that among the changes will be a new scoreboard and new play clocks. He also said that no changes will be made to Taylor Field Stadium or press box.

The completion date is scheduled for June 24th.

Harrisburg will become the ninth high school in southern Illinois to get turf, joining Benton, Carterville, Carbondale, Du Quoin, Johnston City, Marion, Murphysboro and Pinckneyville.
